Jalal
Hossieni has traveled a long long distance to where
he makes his home today in Puerto Rico. Born to a
large and loving family in Tehran, Iran in 1968, he
credits his uncle Hamid a graphic designer, for
encouraging his early interest in the arts. After
attending the local graphic design college, once again
family stepped in to guide him on his way. Jalal's
brother, Amir, was there with a job. And this was
right up his alley! Working for the Board of
Education in the department of film archives, sport
education and export and import films. And so began
his travels. For this young man these travels to
Japan, Australia, Berlin and other exotic locales
opened his mind and heart to a world filled with the
most amazing images. Of course Jalal viewed it
largely through the lens of his camera honing his
visual eye and broadening his education. On one such
journey he found himself in Toronto, Canada and
another installment in the adventures of Jalal.
Toronto was to become his home for the next ten
years. Fate was once again smiling and Jalal found
employment in a sign studio, where he not only had
to learn English but had to prove himself as a
designer from the ground up.His hard work paid off
and when he left Toronto he was top designer for his
company.
And once again on his travels to
Puerto Rico to visit his cousin he met his future
bride and a new life and home!
What makes a top designer you may
ask? Well if I were to use Jalal as an example I
would have to say vision and a certain fearlessness.
Add in a lot of hard work and that would be a great
start. In order for Jalal to create a design he must
be able to transplant your vision for your self
or company to something tangible . Whatever the subject
matter, and after all of his hours of research, it
is Jalal's ability to make something complicated
look simple and very clean that really comes across
in all of his work. Today he finds himself with a
diverse clientele and he is happiest when he is
working at his art. In his spare time he likes to
work on making mini documentaries about his family
and of course his photograpy.
